Haganah - the Self Defense Solution

Our kids program offers the same high quality training that we provide our adults in a program that is taught in a manner perfectly suited for kids. They train in a modern, mixed style of martial arts that incorporates the best of the various martial arts that we train.

The kids programs consist of Haganah, kickboxing, boxing, and clinch as well as Brazilian jiu jitsu and wrestling. It's important for children to learn to be proficient in all ranges of self-defense, not just one. We also train your child to defend against clubs, knife and guns. It is a sad fact but this is going on the street and at schools everyday. You children must be ready for any situation; this is one of the major things that separate the Haganah F.i.g.h.t. center from all other schools in the area. Realistic Self-Defense, Not Flashy Moves

Our program focuses on providing the youth in our school with the most realistic self-defense training possible. Many schools spend most of their time teaching techniques that would not work in a real life situation. In addition, they will spend most of your child's valuable training time practicing katas /forms which do nothing to improve your child's self-defense training. Instead, we constantly work athletically based drills to develop your Childs timing, distancing, rhythm, coordination, balance and control, with a real life opponent, not an imaginary one.

Too often a parent spends their hard earned money and precious time to send their child to martial art lessons and then find out the hard way that he/she can't defend them self on the street or in school.

The fact is that most "karate" schools are nothing more than "black belt mills" that really teach nothing more than fancy techniques, untested theory, katas or forms and unnecessary yelling. Most schools simply run the class with one objective: keep the students coming and the money flowing. Our objective is simple: use the play as the way method, teach our youth proper values and ethics of martial arts while also providing practical self-defense in a fun environment to promote better learning.

Character Development

The kids in our program don't just learn self-defense; instead, they are constantly taught what it means to be a Black Belt and a martial artist. In fact, most children already have a pretty good idea what it means to be a Black Belt. They already know that a Black Belt should be kind, courteous, self-confident, hardworking, self-disciplined, etc. Most children already know these values and want to embody them. It then becomes our job to help them find their way to that goal. We do this through an outstanding program that extends itself outside of our school and into their everyday lives. It is truly amazing when the things that you want your kids to embody are tied into what it means to be a Black Belt or a "Martial Art Mindset".
Fitness and Fun!!

There isn't much that can beat the martial arts for a good workout, and with schools cutting back more and more on physical education, this is very important. All the drilling, sparring and jiu jitsu and wrestling that they do provide an excellent full body workout. Combined with the various physical conditioning exercises like push-ups, sit-ups, running, squats and pull-ups, your child will be well on their way to developing great strong, healthy bodies. Furthermore, they have fun doing it and martial arts provide a reason to exercise other than just because "it's good for you".
Teach Them To Be Safe

In addition to teaching them physical self-defense, we also train our kids how to avoid danger in the first place. Bully Buster training is learning how to end a fight before it starts. This leads into understanding how to deal with the bully. Most importantly, we teach the danger of the stranger. We go over many of the ways that "bad people" seek to abduct or hurt children like them and how to recognize and avoid it. Again, this is most powerful when it is tied into their "martial art mindset".
